2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: Tory Horton, WR Colorado State

Welcome to the Exclusive Sneak Peek: Tory Horton, a Wide Receiver from Colorado State. He is from Fresno, California and was a 3-star recruit out of Washington Union High School.

In 2020, as a freshman, Horton appeared in 9 games for Nevada. During that time he recorded 20 receptions for 336 yards and 5 touchdowns. His numbers were far from groundbreaking but showed he had potential if he could continue to improve his play.

His 2021 season saw him appear in 12 games for Nevada where he had his first mini-breakouts a sophomore. He totalled 52 catches for 659 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns and showed that he had the potential to be an elite producer.

That 2021 breakout led to him transferring to Colorado State for his junior year. Once he arrived at Colorado State he played in 12 games where he racked up 71 receptions for 1,131 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. Again, he showed a marked improvement in production year over year.

His final collegiate season was as a senior in 2023. Where he appeared in 12 games once again for Colorado State. This senior season would prove to be the best statistical season of his collegiate career. He totalled 96 receptions for 1,136 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns as he cemented himself as a reliable target in the Rams’ offence.

Pre-Draft Analysis

Expected Draft Capital: Round 5

Ideal Landing Spot: Cleveland Browns

Horton is a project player with long-term potential, although he lacks any significant upside for fantasy football purposes. He put up excellent numbers at Colorado State but the level of competition he faced is worrisome. It’s unlikely this production will translate to the next level.

The Cleveland Browns are a team that lacks depth in the wide receiver room and taking a shot on a big-bodied receiver on Day 3 could be exactly what they need. He may be a longshot to hit, but if he does, he could be a great asset to Brown’s offence.
