Dynasty Deep Stashes: Feb ’25

Dynasty Deep Stashes

It’s Dynasty Season. That means the plugged-in dynasty managers are looking for dynasty deep stash players. The guys might be on waivers or at the back end of others’ benches. The guys you can get thrown in on bigger trades. Dynasty deep stashes are players who you can get for free now and have high potential and probability to become flex players or more for your fantasy team. Guys who might be buried on depth charts. Players who may have missed time due to injury. Players whose roles are possibly headed for an increase due to free agency. There is still plenty of offseason to come but if things change for these players for the worse you aren’t losing much value. The potential for them to increase in value is there. Let’s break down this month’s Dynasty Deep Stashes

February 2025 Dynasty Deep Stashes

Jared Wiley: Tightend, Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are still a dynasty. Despite losing to the Philadelphia Eagles they are set to be Super Bowl contenders as long as Patrick Mahomes is under center. Many people will be putting the Chiefs down in the coming years. The rumors are that the Chiefs have given future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce a deadline to make his decision on his future. Kelce is 35 years old and just finished his 12th NFL season. He has a ton going on off the field from his podcast to his personal life to the potential of acting. Even if he does come back he certainly looked like he lost a step this past season. Many will be pointing to Noah Gray as the heir apparent but I believe that Jared Wiley is the guy you should be stashing on your taxi squad.

While Gray has done well in his limited opportunities he is nothing more than a touchdown-dependent weekly play. There is also a big opt-out for the Chiefs after the 2025 season before Gray’s cap hit jumps from $4.5 million to $7 million. His dead cap drops from $7.6 million to $3 million. Wiley is the true heir apparent who could be thrust into a large role sooner rather than later. He missed the back half of his rookie year dealing with a knee injury but he should come back better than ever. How good is Wiley? Let’s compare him to other tight ends in the 2024 and 2023 rookie class.

Comparisons to Others

With similar numbers, Wiley fell to the end of the 4th round while the others were early 4th or higher. He is also on a team that prioritizes the tight end. Kelce has seen 120 or more targets in the past eight years and over 100 in the past ten years. Considering only 15 tight ends saw 75 or more targets in 2025 and only 15 in 2024 there is a good chance Wiley can produce for your fantasy team. Scooping him now while he is on waivers and your league mates are fighting over Noah Gray and some incoming rookie who has athleticism but a bad situation you can reap the rewards.

Ryan Flournoy: Wide Receiver, Dallas Cowboys

Ryan Flournoy never really got his chance to be part of the Dallas Cowboys during his rookie season in 2024. He didn’t make his debut till Week 5 and was buried on the depth chart until CeeDee Lamb was put on IR and shut down for the season. His best game of the season was Week 16 where he played 40% of the snaps. He caught all three of his targets for 41 yards. He was a sixth-round pick coming out of Southeastern Missouri. The small school stigma probably lowered his draft stock. His production in two years of college was impressive even at a small school. He posted two years with over 50 receptions, over 800 yards, and at least 6 touchdowns in each.

Flournoy has speed that if used creatively can produce fantasy points. He had a rushing touchdown in both years in college and ran a 4.44 forty times at the NFL combine. With a new head coach, Brian Schottenhiemer, finding creative ways to get the ball to him in space and allow him to use that speed.

The Cowboys are going to be looking to fill out their wide receiver room. CeeDee Lamb is the clear Alpha but after that it gets murky. Both Brandin Cooks and Kavontae Turpin are set to hit free agency. The Cowboys are currently projected to be over the current cap and will need to be creative to fill all the holes on their team. Looming is the big contract for defensive star Micah Parsons as well as most of their secondary after the 2026 season.

Unknown role on the team

The Cowboys will probably draft a wide receiver but Flournoy at worst will be in the mix for third or fourth on the receiver depth chart. The Cowboys probably can’t bring in a high-priced free agent given their current cap space and with a large hole at running back, they seemed destined to use high draft capital on that. Having Flournoy on your bench or taxi squad could provide solid weekly flex play or maybe more if he can be used right in the offense.

Sam Howell: Quarterback, Seattle Seahawks

If you drafted Sam Howell in 2022 you probably dropped him after failing to see the field until the last week of the season and being a 5th round draft pick. Perhaps you held him and he was on your roster in 2023 you were extremely surprised with him finishing as the QB12 that season. Maybe you still had him in 2024 you were hoping the magic that has put Geno Smith back into the fantasy world would finally run out and Howell would get a chance to start. Howell has only seen the field for half a game during his two seasons in Seattle but he is still worth stashing on your dynasty bench. What we saw from Howell in 2022 is worth stashing as probably one of the best backups in the league and has the potential to get into the game sooner rather than later.

The Seahawks are a bubble team. They almost made the playoffs, only missing out due to the strength of victory tiebreaker with the Los Angeles Rams. Geno Smith was a surprise in 2022 but since then has started to regress to the below-average play that ended his early career with the New York Jets. 2024 was another subpar year. First-year head coach Mike Macdonald was brought in to take the Seahawks back to the Super Bowl and despite talent on the team they have fallen short. Now heading into his second year he may start looking to make changes.

Potential increase in snaps

If Geno Smith can’t get it done then a switch to Howell should happen. Headed into their Week 10 bye last season Smith had 11 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He only had two multi-touchdown games but three multi-interception games. Heading into the bye with a record of 4-5 I expect a possible change then. If something similar happens this season I think the change at quarterback will happen. Howell was a 50/50 quarterback in his starting time for the Washington Commanders in 2023. His touchdown and interception numbers were the same.

While that can be frustrating for the coaching staff and fantasy managers he has potential. He was the guy that head coach Mike Macdonald brought in so the buy-in is there. Stashing him on your bench, especially in two QB leagues he has the potential to be a cheap starter for you mid-season and for the fantasy playoffs. That’s what you are looking for in a dynasty deep stash

A.J. Dillon: Running Back, Free Agent (formerly Green Bay Packers)

You know him, you probably have strong feelings one way or the other but A.J. Dillon is worth adding to your dynasty roster right now. It may feel like he has been in the league forever but Dillon is only 26 years old and hitting free agency. The free agent class at running back isn’t great while the NFL draft seems loaded with talent.

I still expect Dillon to get a decent role as a backup/ change of pace role on a team. He has never been a bellcow back but has shown that he can use his size to be productive. In both 2021 and 2022, he was able to be a low-end RB2 for your fantasy team. He doesn’t have the pass-catching abilities that you might want but at 6’0” and 240 lbs he is a bruising back. He seems destined to be the bane of some top back’s goal-line work.

Dillon is probably sitting on waiver wires right now. He spent the whole season on IR suffering from a neck injury but is expected to be ready for the 2025 season. Outside of the 2023 season, Dillon was an efficient rusher. He averaged over four yards per carry every year and his rookie year was over five yards per carry. With five years under his belt, he can be a veteran presence in a locker room. All reports and interviews show him as a team player and a well-liked guy. He seems to be well-received by all of his teammates. That is something a team will love when bringing him in during free agency.

Dynasty value

His value is only going to increase as the offseason goes on. Once free agency hits and he signs he will be valued more by others. That value allows you to either hold that value or trade it for other assets including draft picks. Dynasty Deep Stash players are all about acquiring value. Finding value off waivers or on the bottom of your league mate’s rosters and seeing them increase. A.J. Dillon is that type of player. With how well veteran running backs did in 2024, teams will be banking on them more in 2025.

Roster Clog to Dump

Trey Lance: Quarterback, Free Agent (formerly Dallas Cowboys)

We have to move on from the crazy amount that the San Francisco 49ers paid to move up to get Trey Lance. Besides the fact that draft capital doesn’t really matter anyway, he is so far removed from that price. He spent last season with the Dallas Cowboys but failed to even see the field until the meaningless Week 18 game. The fact that he couldn’t beat out Cooper Rush to at least get some playing time is alarming.

Even worse what did he do when he did get the playing time? 20 out of 34 for 244 yards, no touchdowns or interceptions. He ran the ball 6 times for 26 yards. With the 2025 NFL draft class being stocked with solid quarterbacks and plenty of other proven veterans available, Lance’s opportunities seem low. The demand for him on the free agent market. He probably signs with a team for camp and maybe makes it as a backup but we have never really seen him produce on the field when it matters. I’m not willing to clog up a roster spot with that sort of asset.
