Fantasy Football Week 3: Players to Sell

Fantasy Football Image

As we move into Week 3 of the fantasy football season, it’s time to evaluate which players have peaked in value and should be traded before their production declines. Selling high can be a key strategy to build a winning team for the long haul. Here are three players you should consider selling before their value drops.

Jonathan Taylor (RB – Indianapolis Colts)

Jonathan Taylor, a player likely drafted as a top running back, has been a mixed bag through the first couple of weeks. While his stat line in Week 2 looked solid—103 rushing yards on 12 carries and 32 receiving yards—there are warning signs for Taylor owners. Most notably, the Colts have been splitting touches between Taylor, Trey Sermon, and Tyler Goodson. Taylor’s involvement in critical situations like third downs, two-minute drills, and short-yardage plays has decreased significantly.

With Anthony Richardson at quarterback, there’s also the added issue of Taylor competing with a rushing QB for valuable red zone touches. The Colts seem committed to managing his workload, which may be great for keeping him healthy but doesn’t bode well for fantasy production. If you can sell Taylor to a believer in his talent, now is the time.

Why Sell?

  • Decreased workload with a 50/50 touch split.
  • Anthony Richardson’s rushing limits his red zone opportunities.
  • Colts may be protecting him for a full season, but that limits weekly upside.

Devin Singletary (RB – Houston Texans)

Devin Singletary surprised many with a strong Week 2 performance, but don’t get too comfortable. Singletary is on a struggling Houston offense, and historically, top fantasy running backs come from high-powered offenses. Tyrone Tracy, a larger back, has been dominating goal-line touches, and Singletary’s role as a receiving back is limited.

Despite his solid showing, Singletary’s value is unlikely to stay this high throughout the season. With a reduced likelihood of touchdowns and a lack of involvement in the passing game, Singletary’s Week 2 production feels more like a fluke than a reliable trend. Sell high while you can.

Why Sell?

  • Limited role in the passing game.
  • Goal-line touches are going to Tyrone Tracy.
  • Likely reached peak value after a rare big week.

Calvin Ridley (WR – Jacksonville Jaguars)

Calvin Ridley had a great Week 2, finishing as a top-eight receiver in fantasy production. However, this could be his high point of the season. Ridley’s target share is about to take a hit with DeAndre Hopkins getting healthier, which could start cutting into Ridley’s volume. Additionally, the Jaguars’ offense has struggled, and relying on inconsistent quarterback play may not yield long-term success.

Ridley’s big Week 2 gives you the perfect opportunity to sell high. Package him in a deal to acquire a more reliable wide receiver with greater upside. This could be a key move to bolster your team for the rest of the season.

Why Sell?

  • DeAndre Hopkins’ return will limit his targets.
  • Jaguars’ offense is struggling, leading to unpredictable production.
  • Capitalize on his high fantasy ranking from Week 2 before regression hits.

Conclusion

Selling players at the peak of their value is a smart way to upgrade your team and prepare for a successful season. Jonathan Taylor, Devin Singletary, and Calvin Ridley all have red flags that could limit their fantasy production moving forward. By selling these players now, you can position yourself for a strong Week 3 and beyond. Use the value they’ve built up to target more consistent, high-upside players, and win your season!
