Potential Offseason Moves

The NFL offseason is officially underway and with it, we will see a number of potential moves and trades. We have already seen Deebo Samuel get traded to the Washington Commanders. Matthew Stafford re-up with the Los Angeles Rams. Bengals Franchise Tagging Tee Higgins. I think we are in store for a very active offseason that will shake up the landscape of the NFL. These are players that I think will change teams and where I think they will end up.

Brandon Aiyuk Trade

Brandon Aiyuk this past offseason got an extension for 4 Years 120 Million. The San Francisco 49ers have 33 million dollars in cap space. They also have a lot of holes in their team that they need to improve on. Especially if they want to compete for a Super Bowl again. They drafted Ricky Pearsall in the 1st round of the 2024 NFL draft. They traded Deebo Samuel to the Commanders putting them thin at Wide Receiver. With a trade of Aiyuk who is coming off of an ACL MCL injury, they could look to the draft or sign a free agent.

The New England Patriots, Los Angeles Chargers, and Pittsburgh Steelers are the destinations I most likely see happening. They have a need a wide receiver and can afford Brandon Aiyuk’s contract. In the event he does get traded, the 49ers are open for business in the fantasy world. Ricky Pearsall would very much become a wide receiver 1. George Kittle would potentially be the best fantasy tight end in all of football. As long as Christian McCaffery is back to healthy then it would be wise to assume he goes back to his old self and is in contention for overall Running back one with Saquan Barkley.

Aaron Rodgers & Davante Adams Sign Together

Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams had a very unfortunate tenure with the New York Jets that ultimately ended up short of high expectations. The Jets are now being forced to start over. Aaron Rodgers may have a little left in the tank and he might end up taking his now-free-agent buddy Davante Adams with him. The New York Giants were earlier linked to quarterback Matthew Stafford, who just signed an extension with the Rams. With them holding the 2nd pick and the Daniel Jones era officially over for the Giants, They are looking for their franchise quarterback. If they choose to take a QB with the 2nd pick they could have him sit behind once great quarterback Aaron Rodgers. If they do, then why not bring over Davante Adams, have him mentor standout Malik Nabers?

Worst Case they get another good pick and they develop a young quarterback and Malik Nabers. I could also see Aaron Rodgers going to the Steelers, who have no quarterback and coach Mike Tomlin would love to try and compete with him at the helm. They also need a wide receiver to compliment George Pickens. I also could see the bromance splitting. Aaron Rodgers would most likely go to one of the previously named destinations. Davante Adams would most likely go to a wide receiver-needy team like the Patriots, Chargers, or maybe even a reunion with Green Bay. Fantasy wise with them leaving the Jets, Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson will shoot back up to top spots at their respective positions. Whoever the Jets insert at quarterback will be a mid tier quarterback.

DK Metcalf Trade

The Seattle Seahawks are in a weird situation. They’re not good enough to compete for a Super Bowl. They’re not bad enough to get a great draft pick. They are kind of in no man’s land. Having just released quarterback in Geno Smith.   They still have a solid running back duo in Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, and a solid receiving core with DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Pair that with a very up-and-down defense and who knows what direction the Seahawks are heading. The icing on the bittersweet cake is that DK Metcalf has now requested a trade. The big-body wide receiver is looking for a new home in another potential offseason move.

The Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Chargers, and New England Patriots are the best suitors for him. The Patriots make the most sense because young star quarterback Drake Maye still needs a wide receiver 1 and the Patriots seem certain to make that happen. If the Seahawks decide to trade Dk Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba would shoot to the moon. Coming off a past season where he finished as wide receiver 9 he would only become better. Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet would both continue to split the backfield and both be borderline top 20 backs. The biggest jump I see is from Seahawks wide receiver Jake Bobo, who has shown flashes of becoming a stud receiver.
