I used to think Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was a drop machine and that he might struggle to gain Mahomes’ trust in Kansas City, and it seems others felt similarly. But then I fact-checked myself by looking at drops from receivers they had last season and this upcoming season:

Worst Seasons

Here are their receivers’ worst drop percentages in a season:
Marquise Brown: 6.0%
Travis Kelce: 7.5%
Rashee Rice: 7.8%
Mecole Hardman: 12.9%
Marquez Valdes-Scantling: 11.1%
Skyy Moore: 3.0%
Kadarius Toney: 13.2%
Justin Watson: 14.7%
Justyn Ross: 18.2%

Last Season

Here are their drop percentages from this past season:
Marquise Brown: 4.0%
Travis Kelce: 5.8%
Rashee Rice: 7.8%
Mecole Hardman: 12.5%
Marquez Valdes-Scantling: 7.1%
Skyy Moore: 2.6%
Kadarius Toney: 13.2%
Justin Watson: 7.5%
Justyn Ross: 18.2%

Wrap-Up

I’m not saying he has super reliable hands, but they might be more reliable than I previously thought and may not be a concern relative to the other receivers that Mahomes throws to. My main question is whether Mahomes just throws passes that are tough to catch, which leads to more drops.
